- Iśvara 伊溼伐羅(1) King, sovereign; Siva and others; intp. by 自在 self-existing, independent; applied to Guanyin and other popular deities.(2) A (sa) śramaṇa of the West, learned in the Tripiṭaka, who inter alia translated A. D. 426 <Samyuktābhidharma-hṛdaya-śāstra>, lost since A. D. 730.(3) A (sa) bhikṣu of India, commentator on 菩提資糧論 attributed to Nāgārjuna, tr. by Dharmagupta, A. D. 590-616.
